Visiting Harkness Fellow
ROBIN GAULD, Ph.D., is a 2008-09 Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, hosted by the Health Policy Institute where he is working with Alan Cohen on a study of organizational strategies to reduce clinical performance variations in high performing hospitals. From New Zealand, he is an Associate Professor of Health Policy in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the University of Otago Dunedin Medical School. He was previously on the faculty of the City University of Hong Kong. Current research interests include comparative health policy, primary care, health information technology, and health care quality. Gauld is author or editor of eight books, including the forthcoming The New Health Policy (Open University Press, 2009), and over 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, which have been published in journals such as the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law, Medical Care, the British Medical Journal, and Health Policy. Gauld holds a Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong, and a master’s degree with distinction from Victoria University, Wellington.
