MAIL

Students assigned to dormitory-style residences or apartments in the Student Residence at 10 Buick Street will receive mail through an assigned mailbox in residence mail rooms.

The following address format should be used on all mail sent to students:

Name
Box [Box number]*
Mailing street address
Boston, MA 02215

* Do not use the words "Post Office Box" or "P.O. Box," as that denotes the United States Post Office, not Boston University.

Please also note that students' on-campus mailbox numbers are not the same as their room numbers.

Mail rooms are located at:

  • Danielsen Hall for residents of Danielsen and 517-521 and 531 Beacon Street;
  • Myles Standish Hall for the residents of Myles and 481-483 Commonwealth Avenue;
  • Shelton Hall for the residents of Shelton and some lower Bay State Road smaller dormitory-style residences;
  • 575 Commonwealth Avenue for residents of 575 Commonwealth Avenue
  • The Towers for residents of The Towers and most of Bay State Road;
  • Warren Towers for Warren Towers residents;
  • 518 Park Drive for residents of South Campus dormitory-style residences;
  • Student Residence at 10 Buick Street for residents of 10 Buick Street; and
  • Rich Hall for Claflin, Sleeper, and Rich Halls, and 1019 Commonwealth Avenue residents.

When students receive a package too large to fit into on-campus mailboxes, they receive notices in their mailboxes. Students must then bring photo identification to their residence mail rooms and sign release forms to receive packages.

If you move from your dormitory-style residence, change address, or withdraw from the University, you must complete a mail forwarding/change-of-address card with the mail room.

Students assigned to an apartment-style residence (other than the Student Residence at 10 Buick Street) have their mail delivered to their apartment mailboxes by the United States Postal Service. Mail addressed to these students must include their name, apartment number, street address, city, state, and zip code. Students must put their name on their apartment mailbox in order to have mail delivered.  If you are assigned to an apartment-style residence and you then move, change address, or withdraw from the University, you must complete a mail forwarding/change-of-address card at the Kenmore Station Post Office. Questions regarding United States Postal Service delivery on campus should be directed to the Kenmore Station Post Office, 11 Deerfield Street, Boston, MA 02215, 617-437-1113.

During vacation and recess periods, mail is held for delivery until the break is over. At the end of the academic year, first and second-class mail is forwarded for a limited time to the home addresses students have on file with the University unless they file change of address cards.
