housing.
When you leave, remember to:

- Unplug and clean all appliances.
- Leave all furniture arranged as you found it when you first
occupied your residence.
- Remove all trash and leave your residence in a clean and habitable
condition.

- Leave your forwarding address for first class mail (see Mail for details).
- Most importantly, lock your door when you leave; return your
keys, in person, to your residence office and obtain a key receipt (see Keys for office hours).

offices are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
daily from 7 p.m. to midnight. If you are scheduled to leave during
hours when your residence office is closed, make arrangements to
return your keys, in person, prior to your departure or use the
key drop box outside your residence office. If you use a key drop
box, make sure that you indicate your name and on campus address
(number, street, and room or apartment number) on the envelope;
you will not receive a key receipt. Do not give your keys to another
student or a resident assistant to return for you. Do not leave

2008. After this date, only May degree candidates will be entitled

MicroFridges; defrost refrigerators. Cleaning charges will be assessed
in instances where rooms and apartments are left in an unsatisfactory
condition. Remove all tape, pushpins, posters, and contact paper;
dispose of all unwanted belongings and trash properly. Any personal
property remaining will be removed and discarded at your expense.
Furniture and damages
All furniture must be present and arranged as it was when you moved
in. This includes, but may not be limited to, rebunking bunk beds
and moving dressers out of closets. Students will be billed for
all missing or damaged furniture; they will also be billed if University
furniture needs to be rearranged. If individual responsibility for
damages in a room, apartment, or common area within cannot be determined,
all occupants will be charged equally. Only the Office of Housing
is authorized to remove Boston University furniture from student
residences. If you have removed furniture or furniture is missing
from your residence, it is your responsibility to ensure that it
is returned before you leave. Students will be billed for missing
or damaged mini blinds, window curtains, and closet curtains. Rooms,
apartments, and common areas within should contain no additional
furniture or personal items; a $50 fee will be assessed for removing
any piece of furniture (e.g., additional common area furniture)
from a residence. An additional $25 fine may also be assessed as
a disciplinary sanction.
