Dormitory-style residences
Rooms in dormitory-style residences contain a dresser, a desk, a bed, and a chair for each student, as well as curtains, mini blinds, or window shades. Students should bring a mattress pad, pillows, extra-long twin bed sheets (most beds are 80 inches long), a bedspread, blankets, towels, a flashlight, a desk lamp, and a metal wastebasket. Most rooms share a common bathroom on the floor; some double-occupancy rooms include a private bathroom.

Most dormitory-style graduate residences include a common lounge on the first floor or in the basement, a TV lounge, study lounges, and a laundry room, as well as front doors that are locked 24 hours a day with access for residents only.

Dining plan options
Residents of dormitory-style residences are required to purchase a dining plan.

The Grad Flex 1000 Plan is an option available only to graduate students living on campus. It provides 96 all-you-care-to-eat meals in the residence dining rooms (48 meals each semester) and $1,000 in Convenience Points ($500 each semester). Convenience Points can be used at all on-campus dining locations, for pizza delivery, and at Campus and City Convenience stores, Barnes & Noble at Boston University, Starbucks and Subway at 700 Commonwealth Avenue, most vending machines on campus, and laundry machines in the larger residences. Graduate students also have the option to purchase one of six other dining plans in place of the Grad Flex 1000 Plan.
