A Well-Rounded Education

Our program will prepare you for leadership in hotel management, food service, travel and tourism, and entertainment, without ever losing sight of the human connection, the foundation of all hospitality. Today’s traveler is sophisticated—expecting elegance, comfort, and cutting-edge amenities, as well as the personal touch. To that end, we’ve filled our classrooms with world-class industry professionals, respected researchers, and seasoned veterans from around the globe. Along with an innovative hospitality curriculum, you are required to fulfill 800 hours of work experience plus an international experience, you’ll take thought-provoking liberal arts and management courses, which will hone your abilities for critical thinking, clear expression (often in multiple languages), and problem-solving—all vital skills for success in the business world.

Beyond the Classroom

By graduation, you’ll have fulfilled two off-campus hospitality work requirements, combining at least 800 hours, or six months, of hands-on experience. In addition, a variety of other unique opportunities are available to you: internships in London, Paris, Sydney, Dublin, Madrid, and other international cities, as well as throughout the United States; mentoring from top-tier professionals; an aggressive Career Services Office; and special short-project assignments. We tout strong relationships with leading industry corporations and recruiters, and a remarkably high job-placement rate. You’ll be ready for the workforce before the ink is even dry on your diploma.

The University at Large

Boston University combines distinguished, fresh-minded teaching with incredible access to academic and pre-professional opportunities. With 16 schools and colleges across two campuses, practically any subject is at your fingertips. Try your hand at printmaking at the College of Fine Arts, study Korean literature at the College of Arts & Sciences, or develop your marketing skills at the School of Management. Outside the classroom, you’ll be exposed to amazing diversity. BU’s more than 30,000 students hail from every state in the union and more than 140 countries. We also understand about all-work-and-no-play. That’s why BU supports some 500 student clubs and offers countless opportunities for fun and relaxation. Sign up for intramural sports; stay in shape at a state-of-the-art fitness facility, complete with a climbing wall; or take in a game or concert at our luxurious sports and entertainment arena.

The City

Once you enroll at the School of Hospitality Administration, you also become a student of Boston, one of the world’s great urban centers and, hands down, the country’s most collegiate city. The birthplace of the American Revolution, the city draws visitors from around the globe to sample its sights, sounds, and flavors. Business professionals flock here to learn the latest advances in high technology, medicine, and education. And with four of its sports teams combining for seven championships in the past 10 years, Boston has become a fan’s paradise. It’s no surprise that, at last count, the city boasted 1,000 restaurants, 100 hotels, and three convention centers. The only thing missing here is you.
