Where you'll learn
Profile: Lindsay Butler, Junior
Lindsay spent the first eight weeks of her international experience immersed in an intensive, all-day French language and culture seminar in Paris. During that time, she interviewed with several companies for her internship. Raynier Marchetti, one of France's leading events planning and catering companies, hired her for the semester as their first American intern.
“My ultimate goal is to go into events planning. This internship is perfect; it's very exciting and we're working things out as we go. Right now we're working on a major international marketing plan that includes a website. Since much of it is in English, my translation skills have been very useful. I’ve also had the opportunity to work closely with one of the project managers developing a proposal for a major American client. I do a significant amount of research as well, which means a lot of telephone calls and interaction with others. I need to be fluent in both French language and culture, and the people I work with have been extremely supportive in getting me up to speed. I feel confident about my work and language skills now. I'm learning a lot about the business, but also about teamwork and especially about differences in culture — useful lessons for my future in the industry.”
