Profile: Javier Rosenberg, SHA'94
In 2006, Javier Rosenberg became General Manager of the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa in Cozumel, Mexico — overlooking Palancar Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. At the age of thirty he was already General Manager of the prestigious Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Named Young Hotelier of the World 2001 by the International Hotel & Restaurant Association, Javier explains how he achieved such success in so short a time.
“My education at Boston University was just outstanding. The School of Hospitality Administration offers a very real-world program, one that prepared me fully for the challenges and realities of working as a manager in the industry. Not only were my classes relevant and exciting, but the experience from my internships was invaluable. I developed many relationships and contacts while at SHA, and they continue to be a part of my professional sphere today. As my career progressed, I never once had to worry that I didn’t understand a concept, have enough experience, or know where to turn for the right support. I am indebted to Boston University for laying the strong foundation from which I am now able to build my career with confidence and competence.”
