Rice Husbands has been working in the field of Marketing in the New England region since 2004. In the fall of 2014, she founded Rice Wales Marketing, a marketing services agency specializing in marketing strategy and execution for the media industry and small businesses in the lifestyle sector. Before striking out on her own, Rice was Associate Publisher and Marketing Director for Boston Magazine, managing a $10+ million sales and a $1+ million marketing budgets. Her main goals at Boston Magazine included generating new programs and events to market the media company, promote their event sponsors, engage tens of thousands of attendees with the company, and raise revenue. During her tenure, she doubled the size of the marketing department and created some of Boston’s best-known events including Battle of the Burger and The Cue.
Before joining Boston Magazine, Rice served as Marketing Director of Yankee Publishing, creating new ad revenue programs across events, digital, and print products, as well as acting as Marketing Manager for CCA Global, managing a variety of marketing/advertising programs for a national retail organization and their 500 member stores.
In addition to her marketing work, Rice works alongside her husband, Andy Husbands, in the operations of his three restaurants: the Smoke Shop BBQ (Kendall Square, Cambridge), Tremont 647, and Sister Sorel (both in the South End, Boston). Rice also donates her time as Chair of the Host Committee for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign in Boston.
She holds a Masters Degree from Tufts University in European History and a Bachelors Degree from Wheaton College in American Studies.
