Brad Hudson
Assistant Professor of Hospitality Administration
Professional Biography
Bradford Hudson is Assistant Professor of marketing in the School of Hospitality Administration at Boston University. He also holds a collateral faculty appointment in marketing at the Graduate School of Management. He teaches courses in marketing principles for undergraduate students and marketing management for MBA students. His teaching expertise includes marketing strategy, services marketing, consumer behavior, brand management, and marketing communications.
Professor Hudson is currently conducting research at the nexus of strategy, marketing, and history. This includes topics such as the founding and growth of companies, the evolution and renaissance of brands, and the influence of brand heritage on contemporary marketing. He is also interested in strategy and marketing related to heritage tourism.
Professor Hudson has published in the Cornell Hotel & Restaurant Administration Quarterly and the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research. He has also appeared in media reports for ABC News, Fox News, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Boston Globe, Boston Business Journal, Los Angeles Times, Orlando Sentinel, Restaurants & Institutions, and Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Professor Hudson holds a Ph.D. in business history from the interdisciplinary honors program at Boston University. He holds a master’s degree in services marketing from the Cornell Hotel School (including coursework at the Johnson School), a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania (including coursework at the Wharton School), and an executive education certificate in strategy from Harvard Business School.
Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Hudson served in a variety of consulting and managerial positions. As President of Hudson Consulting and as a Senior Consultant with The TQM Group, he provided advice on strategy and marketing to senior executives of multinational firms. His clients with historic brands included Bank of Boston, Cadbury Schweppes, Cunard, Harley-Davidson, and Nestlé. He is former Chief Executive Officer of Bay Tower Incorporated, which was ranked among the 100 largest independent restaurant companies in the United States by Restaurants & Institutions. He is also former Chief Executive Officer of Brandpoint.com, which developed an acclaimed consumer Internet navigation portal.
Professor Hudson has received the Certificate of Excellence from Emerald Management Reviews, for the practical implications of his academic publications. He is also listed in Who’s Who in America.
