Dean’s Welcome

Welcome to Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration (SHA).
SHA offers a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Administration consisting of core management courses, a liberal arts component, as well as the work and international experience skills necessary to pursue a successful career in the fast-paced, ever-changing hospitality industry.

As a student in the School of Hospitality Administration, you will be able to study a variety of hospitality-specific topics, such as Hospitality Finance, Hospitality Marketing, Hospitality Design, and Food and Beverage Management. At the same time you will have extraordinary work opportunities. Boston itself is a “real world” laboratory with hundreds of hotels, restaurants, event planning venues, convention centers—just to name a few hospitality segments. SHA students complete more than 1200 hours of work experience on average throughout their college career. SHA students also have the opportunity to study and work abroad through our internship programs in London, Paris, Sydney, Auckland, Beijing and Madrid. While abroad, SHA students gain an understanding of international hospitality management.

I encourage you to explore our site. The content in its pages will provide detailed academic information and give you a glimpse into the students in action at internships and study abroad experiences.

Please reach out to our faculty and staff via their contact information for answers to questions you may have. We are here to provide you with a clear vision of what we offer at the School of Hospitality Administration.

Sincerely,

Gloria Waters, PhD
