22nd Annual Public Interest Project Auction Gala

On March 28, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., members of the public and friends of Boston University will bid on more than 100 auction items. ** This year, the Auction Gala will include items ranging from vacation rentals and designer handbags to gift certificates for local restaurants and spas.** All Auction proceeds fund summer grants for BU law students who demonstrate a commitment to public service and secure an unpaid summer legal internship in public interest or public service. This year, PIP honors: Richard Jones (BU Law ’95, LLM ‘05), Partner at Sullivan & Worcester, LLP; Chris Strang (BU Law ’05), Partner at Desmond, Strang & Scott, LLP; Rachel Biscardi (BU Law ’00), Director of Pro Bono Projects for the Women’s Bar Foundation; and Professor Frances Miller (BU Law ’65), Professor of Law Emerita at Boston University School of Law. Each honoree significantly contributes to public interest and pro bono work in the private, public, and academic sectors. This year, forty-eight students seek funding from PIP to subsidize their unpaid summer internships. PIP strives to raise the majority of this money through its Auction Gala. PIP also partners with law firms and local foundations that provide necessary support for public interest work through collaboration and contributions. To meet its goals, PIP seeks sponsorship for its Auction Gala and continued support for its goals and missions.
