Alcohol Awareness Week

A week of events promoting responsibility, reality-based drug and alcohol education, and ending rape culture. DISCLAIMER: We neither condone nor condemn alcohol use- we merely recognize that it happens, and we should at the very least be aware of what's happening on our own campus and how to make it safer. Look up #AAW on Twitter! 2/19, 7-830, CAS 211 - Medical Transport Info Sesh with Res Life, EMT & SHS 2/20, 7-8, CAS B12 - Consent 101 with BARCC 2/22, 6-7, The CGSA - Alcohol on the Brain: The Science of Booze 2/25, 7-8, CAS B12 - Bystander Training with SARP More details: Medical Transport Information Session + Q&A -Become confident in your knowledge of BU's drug and alcohol policies, how to tell the signs of alcohol poisoning, plus what happens during a medical transport & the ensuing judicial process Consent 101 -Learn about the prevalence of sexual violence on college campuses; the laws behind consent and alcohol/drug consumption; the methodology of perpetration; and the role that college community plays in supporting survivors Alcohol on the Brain: The Science of Booze -What's going on with your brain chemistry when you drink? What are the short-term and long-term neurological effects? Our own SSDP alum and neuroscience grad student Darrien Garay will be leading a presentation and discussion to address these questions. Bystander Training -When you see something wrong, is it your responsibility to intervene? Come talk to reps from the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Center and learn how to handle stressful/dangerous situations that may arise.
