APRIL 2007 Vol. 1, Issue 1
The Need for an E-Newsletter
An e-newsletter is a great way to provide the SHA community with timely School and University news, as well as other information.
Our goal is to bring an engaging, interactive experience to readers, create better networking opportunities, and to keep you apprised of School-based and general BU events.
The e-newsletter is also a good way to re-connect with professors and meet current students. In our section, "Ask the Professor," we invite you to challenge professors with real-world problems or situations, or even a current trend you've noticed. The best submissions will be discussed by SHA professors and replies will be provided in the following issue of ROM Service.
We hope to add alumni profiles in coming editions. For this edition, we like to highlight some great SHA Seniors who have helped make SHA number one on campus in participation for the Class Gifts Program. Meet the seniors.
If there are other items of interest that you would like to see in this e-newsletter, please let us know tsharp@bu.edu.
Ask a Professor
Give us your real-world problems/trends for SHA professors to discuss with students in class. We'll try to post the questions and replies from both the professors and students in the next edition of ROM-Service.
In this first edition Prof. Peter Szende has supplied the question:
You have been the Food and Beverage Director in a hotel for over a year. You oversee the culinary operations as well. As the Executive Chef's performance appraisal is coming up you start worrying how to conduct the discussion as the Chef has more experience and makes more money than you and most importantly he/she is technically superior. How would you advise the F&B Director?
Answers may be used in teaching materials and/or future publications.
