Suddenly one of us wakes up
And shakes away the monotonous silence
Which made me forget about him
And made him forget about me.
He goes to the kitchen to boil some water
Fills up the old kettle enough for two
Puts up a medium fire and forgets
Until the water boils and from the rising spout
A whistle sounds
Which announces the changes of the water’s form
And we hurry to the kitchen
Meeting by the cooking stove
Push and bump into each other
Mingle our hands
Step on each other’s toes
Like swallows in the morning
By a reservoir
