Ms Alena Srankova has recently joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in Slovakia as a Senior Consultant for the public sector. She works for the Performance Improvement Unit. Her responsibilities include business development activities with government institutions, preparing expressions of interests and proposals, in response to public procurement tenders for project management and implementation.
Previously, Ms Alena Srankova has worked for the Ministry of Finance in international projects operated by the U.S. Department of Treasury and the World Bank. Her activities involved implementing public finance management reform in Slovakia. Ms Srankova developed results-oriented program budgeting, improved strategic planning and internal budgeting procedures in the ministries and agencies. She also devised program objectives and performance indicators. Ms Srankova is a co-author of the first Citizen’s Guide to Budget in Slovakia, introducing budget information to the general public.
Ms Srankova holds a master’s degree from the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. Her thesis focused on business environment analysis as a starting point for corporate strategy formation. In 2001 she successfully completed a two-year study of the translation of English language texts and obtained a joint diploma from March Bloch University in Strasbourg and Comenius University in Bratislava.
During her Humphrey year, Ms Alena Srankova would like to enhance her knowledge of public sector management, finance and budgeting; and gain practical experience on performing audit, internal audit and risk assessment in public organizations. She is also interested in policy and program evaluation, performance measurement and improving efficiency, effectiveness and accountability in the public sector. |
