Mr. Kabuoh Uche Laz has worked within the Central Bank of Nigeria for fifteen years. His current responsibilities include assisting the Branch Controller in organizing and supervising operations of the branch as well as the supervision of the clearing house for the banks. He is also involved in monitoring the financing of small scale enterprises and reporting to the Head Office. Previously, Mr. Laz worked for eight years as a bank examiner. In that role he was responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations guiding the foreign exchange market in Nigeria, and adjusting or formulating new policies for the market.
Mr. Laz has a diploma in accountancy, a bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance from Ogun State University, and a MBA in Business Administration from Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma. He is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
During his Humphrey year, Mr. Laz plans to acquire knowledge of the American financial system and how it finances various sections of the economy. He will also broaden his knowledge on entrepreneurial management and micro financing in the United States.
In the future, he intends to use the knowledge gained to advise the Central Bank on the ongoing restructuring of Nigeria's financial system, and foster partnerships between Nigerian entrepreneurs and American businessmen. |
