Ashveena Gajeelee is head of international cooperation and external relations at the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Mauritius. Reporting to the chief executive, she works extensively on global regulatory developments, the exchange of information between regulators, and the implementation of international norms and standards. She has been actively involved in crossborder negotiations and investigations, as well as overseas campaigns to promote the Mauritius International Financial Centre. Ms. Gajeelee is actively involved in promoting cooperation between financial regulators of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and helped formulate the Strategic Plan 2010–2015 for the SADC’s Committee for Insurance, Securities and Non-Bank Authorities.
Ms. Gajeelee holds an MBA from École Nationale d’Administration, France. Prior to working at the FSC, she worked in the administrative cadre of the Mauritian civil service. Her postings included the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Technology, and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
During her Humphrey year, Ms. Gajeelee hopes to build on her experience of cross-border interactions and cooperation and will work to advance her knowledge and understanding of international regulatory issues and diplomacy.
