Anita Székely

Anita SzekelyMs. Anita Székely is head of section at the Credit Institutions and Financial Enterprises Supervision Department within the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority (HFSA). Her duties include the operational oversight of banks and financial institutions in Hungary.  Currently, she manages the ongoing off-site supervision of a diverse spectrum of banks and financial institutions.  Most recently she worked on the development of new supervisory methods to enhance the efficiency of off-site supervision.

As a former senior banking supervisor at the HFSA, Ms. Székely primarily examined corporate governance, internal audit, asset quality, capital adequacy, liquidity and investments. During her years supervising capital markets, she became familiar with supervisory issues connected to stock exchanges and central securities depositories. She is also an active participant in the European Supervisory Cooperation. From 1998 to 2003, Ms. Székely was a branch manager for Hungary’s largest bank, OTP.

Ms. Székely holds a Master’s degree in Economics and an MBA from the Corvinus University of Budapest, as well as a postgraduate certificate in Banking.

During her Humphrey year, Ms. Székely plans to focus on risk management and regulatory aspects of the financial markets. She also intends to deepen her understanding of the risks embedded in global banking developments in order to contribute to the further development of supervisory activity in Hungary.
