Dr. Yibing Duan has been working in the Institute of Policy and Management at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) since 1997. As a policy analyst, he is engaged with the China’s policymakers to create knowledge, insight and solutions on important problems for ensuring China’s innovation capacity building in the context of globalization. As Head of the Division of Science and Technology Policy, he works with his colleagues to gather high-quality and objective research for improvement of policymaking on the latest major innovation issues. Dr. Duan has served as a member of many national panels. He is also Associate Professor in the Graduate University of CAS and lectures on Technology Policy.
Dr. Duan received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Hunan Normal University, a master’s degree in History of Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, and a PhD in History of Science from the Institute of History of Natural Science of CAS.
During his Humphrey Fellowship year, Dr. Duan intends to broaden his knowledge of intellectual property protection, commercialization of public research, innovation incentives, and policy learning. He will deepen his understanding of technology policy in the United States and apply his experiences to the operating environment in his own country. |
