Ms Nancy Neo Chengeta, has worked as business advisor to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for the last 15 years in both the government and the private sector. Her current position is Chief Business Development Officer for Rural Industries Promotions Co. Botswana, a research and development organization. Her main responsibilities involve assisting SMEs with business management skills, marketing and financial services.
In 2002 she successfully implemented the incubation program. This was after extensive travel to other countries such as Malaysia, India, Mauritius, Uganda, and South Africa for benchmarking purposes. Before her departure for the Humphrey Program, the Botswana Government had financed the incubation program for purposes of expansion. Ms Chengeta has also been sponsored by international organizations such as World Association of International Technology and Research Organizations (WAITRO) to present a progress report on the economy of Botswana to international conferences.
Ms Chengeta has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Botswana and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia. She also earned a certificate in Advanced Marketing Management at the University of South Africa.
During her Humphrey year, Ms Chengeta plans to focus on entrepreneurial development as well as project management. She is particularly interested in the business start-ups environment within the US. She hopes to use the knowledge gained to help in policy framing for her country regarding SME’s as well a starting her own business. |
