Rashid Masood Alam

Pakistan


Mr. Rashid Masood Alam is currently working as Audit Manager in Bank Alfalah Limited, one of the largest commercial banks in Pakistan. His primary responsibilities include identifying and evaluating risks of critical banking operations and processes, and recommending solutions to mitigate risks. Mr. Alam is also responsible for assisting the Head of Audit in preparation of Annual Audit Plan and Strategy, Planning and Finalizing special assignments, and in presentations to the Board Audit Committee.

Mr. Alam has twelve years of Audit experience both in public audit firms and within the banking industry. He has worked with Audit & Assurance Group of Deloitte & Touche, Pakistan Office for seven years and joined Faysal Bank Limited (FBL) as Assistant Vice President in the year 2000.

He frequently lectures to central bankers, bank managers, and account professionals on a variety of subjects that include financial instruments, foreign currency operations, and anti-money laundering measures.

Rashid Masood Alam holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi and a master's degree in commerce from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Also, he is a certified Cost management accountant and chartered accountant from the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, respectively.

During his Humphrey year, Mr. Alam plans to acquire a deeper understanding of Enterprise Risk Management with an emphasis on operational, credit, pricing and interest rate risks. He hopes to gain practical exposure to hedging techniques, quantifying exposures in treasury, derivatives, securitization, credit analysis, Sarbanes Oxley and Bassle II accord to apply upon his return home.
