Mr.
Avedikian has worked for six years at the Central Bank
of the Republic of Armenia as the head of the Division
for Legislative Development of the Legal Department.
He has supervised a number of legal reform projects
concerning banking regulation and supervision.
In
November 2003, he joined the Armenian European Policy
and Legal Advice Center, as the head of the Legal Team,
where he provides high-level policy and legal advice
to the Armenian Government on key strategic issues affecting
the country's transition to a market economy, and forging
bonds with the European Union. His responsibilities
include also counseling the Government on issues of
approximating the Armenian legislation to that of European
Union's rules and standards.
Mr.
Avedikian also lectures Company Law, Business Law and
Financial and Banking Law at the Law Faculty of the
French University in Armenia, and EU Law at the Legal
Department of the European Regional Academy in Caucasus.
He holds a LLM degree in European Union Commercial Law
from the University of Leicester, UK. Mr. Avedikian
is the author of Republic of Armenia's Law "On
Credit Organizations", the Anti Money Laundering
/ Terrorism Financing legislation and the co-author
of a number of other banking laws and regulations.
During
his Humphrey year Mr. Avedikian will broaden his knowledge
in US experience of banking and financial regulation
with emphasis on developing his skills and expertise
in Securities Regulation and Commercial Lending.
