Itbar Khan

Pakistan


Mr. Itbar Khan is currently a subject specialist in English language at the Government Higher Secondary School in Ghani Dheri Malakand, Pakistan. In addition to teaching English to secondary and higher secondary classes, he also serves as chairman of the school's Literacy Society and teaches at a local college of education. He has participated in the drafting of primary and secondary education training manuals, and founded the English Language Academy of Shergarh, Pakistan, his hometown.

Mr. Khan participated in the aligning and pacing of Pakistan's National Curriculum in 2006, and was a member of a national workshop aimed at reviewing pre-service teacher training and improving the existing curriculum. He has conducted teacher training workshops at different private and public schools in Pakistan and has worked as a facilitator in teacher training workshops in New Dehli, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Mr. Khan holds master's degrees in English, political science, and education. In 2005, he participated in a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course at George Washington University through the South Asian Teacher Training Project sponsored by the Fulbright Commission in Pakistan.

During his Humphrey year, he will focus on various TEFL components, including linguistics, instructional methods, evaluation, and teacher training.
