Mr. Siziba has worked for the Ministry of Education and Culture in Mozambique for fifteen years; before joining the Humphrey Program, he worked as a Teacher Trainer at the Teachers’ College for eight. Since 2002, Mr. Siziba has served as the College’s English Course Coordinator as well as the Head of the English Language Department.
He holds a bachelor of education degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL) from the University of London Institute of Education, and also trained as a secondary and primary school teacher, and taught a course in Trainer Training and Materials Writing for Young Learners of English at the Language Laboratory International House in South Africa.
Mr. Siziba has participated in a number of seminars, workshops, and other programs in the field of English Language Teaching both in and outside Mozambique; in 2005, he took part in the Summer Institute on Professional Development for Administrators in the Field of English Language Teaching in New York.
During his Humphrey year, Mr. Siziba will deepen his knowledge of the U.S. children’s library system; he is especially interested in the effectiveness of mobile libraries in country schools, and in producing reading materials for young or elementary-level students.
