Manshuk Nurseitova

Kazakhstan

Before joining the Humphrey Program, Ms. Manshuk Nurseitova worked as a senior consultant in the Management Consulting Department of Deloitte, Caspian Region, providing consultancy in marketing research, strategy, budgeting, and financial analysis for public and private, local and foreign owned entities operating in Kazakhstan. She also facilitated a series of seminars for the largest Kazakh pension saving fund.

In 2006, Ms. Nurseitova led a group that provided an independent analysis of pension reform at the request of the Kazakh Parliament economic analysis office. In their research, the group communicated with key market players and policymakers and applied financial calculations and modeling. The results of the study were reported to the Parliament and received wide publicity.

Ms. Nurseitova has two master’s degrees: one in applied math from Kazakh State University and the other in economics from the University of Reading in the UK, from which she graduated with honors. She wrote a number of articles on pension reform and worked as a part-time lecturer in the University of International Business in Almaty.

During her Humphrey Fellowship, Ms. Nurseitova will study the economics of pension funds, their primary and secondary activities, risk management, and policy implications to identify issues and possible solutions in her home country.
