Ms. Melania Noguera has been teaching English for 13 years in Nicaragua; for the last six, she has worked for the English Department in the Education Faculty at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua in Leon (UNAN-Leon), where she teaches English and coordinates the English program for entering freshmen at the University.
She also represents the university by serving as pedagogy trainer for the Minister of Education and the American Embassy through her work with the “Books in a Box” program. Prior to applying to the Humphrey Fellowship, Ms. Noguera served as the head of the English Department for four years.
Ms. Noguera has a bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in TESOL. She also completed postgraduate coursework on didactic and curriculum design in a program in conjunction with the University of Alcala de Henares in Spain and UNAN-Leon, and a postgraduate course on methodology and dynamic English classrooms at Central America University, Managua.
During her Humphrey year at BU, Ms. Noguera expects to enhance her expertise in Teaching English as a Second Language and to learn new educational techniques and technology.
