Mr. Dong Yub Lee has worked as deputy director at the Financial Services Commission (FSC) in Korea for three years. During this period, he has been in charge of highly significant pending issues. Just before joining the Humphrey Fellowship Program, his main task was to privatize government-owned banks such as the Korean Development Bank and Woori Financial Holding Company among others.
His previous accomplishments in FSC have lent him in-depth knowledge on the Korean financial market. He successfully resolved a credit delinquency issue in 2006 by improving Korea’s credit recovery support and information sharing system and also initiated drawing-up policies to advance Korea’s banking system, making revisions or authoritative interpretations of the Banking Act. His three-year experience in the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, which plans and coordinates the economic policy direction in Korea, has strengthened his capacity to analyze and solve economic issues.
He has a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Yonsei University in Korea. During his Humphrey year, Mr. Lee will concentrate on examining the securities activities of banks. He also plans to further expand his knowledge on various business models in the banking sector in order to promote money-supply functions of banks.
