Fatimata Coulibaly Sanogo

Mali


Fatimata Coulibaly Sanogo works at the Inspectorate of Secondary Education in Bamako as Inspector of English for the Ministry of National Education in Mali.  There, she supervises and assesses English teachers at the secondary school level, monitors school administrations, and assists in the development and design of curricula and national exams throughout Mali. In addition to these duties, Mrs. Sanogo also trains over 400 in-service teachers in updating their teaching.

In 1983, Mrs. Sanogo began her career as an English teacher in an all-girls’ high school, Lycée Notre Dame du Niger, where she taught for 14 years. Mrs. Sanogo later served as the Principal of Lycée Massa Makan Diabaté for two years before being appointed Inspector in 1998.

Fatimata Coulibaly Sanogo received a bachelor’s degree in teaching English as a second language from the distinguished teacher training college, Ecole Normale Supérieure in Bamako.  She also earned a certificate in communicative language teaching from Lancaster University, UK, in 1988 and a certificate in 1999 at the Summer Institute for EFL Educators from Sub-Saharan, Francophone, and Lusophone Africa from the University of Maine in Orono (U.S.).

As part of her Humphrey Fellowship year, Mrs. Sanogo plans to enhance her knowledge in human resource management, supervision, school administration, and teacher training.
