Dr. Eralp Polat started at the Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) in 1992 and has worked in various departments, including the stock, treasury, and international markets. Dr. Polat is currently the Assistant Director of the International Relations Department at the ISE. He is responsible for relations with international portfolio investors, foreign counterparts, and similar institutions. His responsibilities in the department include hosting and providing information about the Turkish capital markets and the ISE to foreign visitors; representing the ISE in international meetings; delivering speeches and making presentations; and organizing international events—such as conferences and workshops—that improve office relations with other stock exchanges and international and domestic capital market institutions.
Eralp Polat has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Istanbul University, a Master’s degree in the field of Capital Markets and a PhD in Economics from the same university. He authored a book entitled Business Cycles and Capital Markets—A Case study on Turkey, published in Turkey in 2005.
During his Humphrey fellowship, Dr. Polat intends to focus on the areas of data management and data mining in the financial sector, as well as the regulatory and practice sides of the international capital market operations. |
