Ms. Tashi Lhamo has been working with the Bhutan National Bank Limited since 1997. Before joining the Humphrey Program, Ms. Lhamo was head of the finance and accounts department as well as the compliance officer of the bank. Apart from the overall operational responsibility of the department, her duties included the finalization of the books of accounts, budget preparation and control; continuous review of MIS structure, format and reports; development of accounting policies; and training on financial accounting practices as new systems and procedures were implemented. As a Compliance Officer of the Bank, she was the liaison between the bank and the central bank, representing the bank in the inter-institutional meeting with the central bank as well as dealing with any queries or problems concerning the central bank reports and compliance with the central bank rules and regulations.
Ms. Lhamo has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Delhi, India, and a Bachelor of Business (major in accounting) from the University of South Australia. She also completed the CPA Australia Program in 2001 and acquired full membership status as a CPA in 2005.
Ms. Lhamo’s main area of study during her Fellowship is banking and finance with a special focus on risk management, investment, asset-liability management, and treasury operations. She also intends to broaden her knowledge of international banking and financial law. |
