Ms. Choi has been working for nine years at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the field of international financial markets and financial cooperation, which is at the forefront of maintaining Korea’s external stability. Just before joining the Humphrey Fellowship Program, her main responsibility as a project leader was to develop a strategy for promoting the regional financial cooperation in 2006 at a time when Korea would assume the co-chairmanship of the ASEAN+3 process. During the process, her main focus lies in playing a leading role in making an agreement to seek a new advanced framework for a regional liquidity support system and to establish regional bond markets in order to prevent financial crisis in East Asia.
Ms. Choi holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Seoul National University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Korea Open University. She also has a master’s degree in public administration from Seoul National University.
During her Humphrey year, Ms. Choi will concentrate on examining key analytical, empirical, and policy issues in economic and financial integration in order to assess the advantage and disadvantage of financial integration in terms of national and regional levels, finding a strategy to reap the benefits from the more integrated financial systems and further enhancing Korea’s role in the regional integration process. |
