Humanities Foundation Projects

Each year the Humanities Foundation funds more than $100,000 in special programs and invites proposals for innovative humanities projects. While proposals may vary widely in focus and scope, each should be designed to promote the development of the humanities as a whole at the University rather than to meet the specialized needs of individual departments and faculty. Projects include, but are not limited to:
  • symposia, conferences, lecture series
  • faculty workshops, curriculum planning activities
  • support for undergraduate organizations and journals
  • initial support for the establishment of new programs and institutes
  • Senior Research Fellowships (see application)
  • Graduate Research Abroad Fellowships (from the Graduate School)
  • publication costs
Some additional funds are administered individually. These include the Endowed Chair in American Material Culture for the American and New England Studies Program, the Historic Preservation Fund, the Jewish Cultural Endowment Fund, the Carmella Di Giovanni Memorial Fund, and the Bronia Horn and Sara Berger Memorial Fund, which supports activities of the Center for Judaic Studies.
