The School Function Assessment (SFA) is designed to help elementary students with disabilities succeed by identifying their strengths and needs in important nonacademic functional tasks. School personnel familiar with the student's typical performance administer the SFA.
The SFA consists of three scales—Participation, Task Supports, and Activity Performance—which are used to evaluate students. Criterion cut-off scores help establish is students are eligible for special services. The SFA can be used to facilitate collaborative program planning for students with a variety of disabling conditions.
