VTI, Inc.
VTI, Inc.Established in 1993, Visualization Technology, Inc. (VTI) is a manufacturer of intraoperative medical devices for use in image-guided surgery, focusing on ear, nose, and throat (ENT), cranial, and orthopedic procedures. The InstaTrak® system provides a 3D view of the patient's CT scan images combined with real time information on surgical instrument locations during surgery. This technology enables the surgeon to see the position of the instrument in relation to vital structures such as the optic nerve and carotid artery.

Over 600 surgeons use the InstaTrak® system in U.S. and foreign medical centers. The company had a partnership with GE Medical Systems, Inc. to collaborate on product development and worldwide distribution. VTI was acquired by GE in 2002.

The founding CEO of VTI, Maurice Ferré, developed the initial concept for the company during his fellowship with the HCEP team. With their assistance in helping to resolve critical business structure and financing issues, private funding was obtained to launch the company. HCEP's director of entrepreneurial management, Jack Valentine, served as a director of VTI since its inception and helped to secure the company's first venture capital round of financing.
