Organization
This section describes the structures of the academic and administrative bodies that comprise Boston University.
- Board of Trustees Under the charter, control of the University is vested in the Corporation, known as the Board of Trustees of Boston University.
- Central Administration A brief description of roles, from the President through the ice President for Information Systems and Technology.
- Administrative Officers The following list is an aid to identifying the key Administrative Officers. A complete listing may be obtained by referring to the Boston University Directory.
- Deans of Schools and Colleges The Dean of a School or College serves as its chief administrative officer. The Dean is appointed by the Trustees upon the recommendation of the President.
- Boston University Council The Boston University Council operates under a constitution adopted in 1979. Its membership consists of the members of the Faculty Council, the Deans of the Schools and Colleges, the Provost, the President, and other officers designated by the President.
- Faculty Assembly & Faculty Council The Faculty Assembly and Faculty Council operate under a constitution adopted in 1979. This constitution can be found on the Faculty Assembly and Faculty Council Constitution page.
- Faculties The faculty of each School or College or other academic unit consists of the members of the teaching and research staff appointed by the Trustees.
