Graduate Education at Boston
University
A message from Associate
Dean J. Scott Whitaker
Graduate education
at Boston University reflects the strength
of our research programs and facilities,
as well as the historical and cultural advantages
of our location in Boston. Recent construction
of extensive new research facilities in
the sciences has further enhanced our science
faculty's active research program; a long
tradition of excellence in the humanities
includes interdisciplinary programs such
as American and New England Studies, in
addition to those of the more traditional
disciplines and the joint program in religion
and theology.
Despite our significant
size and diversity, our emphasis is on the
individual graduate student, beginning with
the proper match among interests, programs,
and faculty advisors and continuing with
a sustained concern for the student's development
as a researcher, scholar, practitioner,
and teacher.
With a richly
international student body and a faculty
fully engaged at the frontiers of knowledge,
Boston University's Graduate School of Arts
and Sciences is making serious contributions
to the intellectual developments of our
time. We welcome your interest.
