Governing Councils

The Governing Councils at Boston University are responsible for the oversight of different portions of Greek Life. The InterFraternity Council (IFC) is responsible for the general oversight of fraternities, while the Panhellenic Council (Panhel) is responsible for the sororities. Multicultural-related Greek organizations can fall under two councils; however, the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) tends to be responsible for both fraternities and sororities in this category.

Governing Councils regulate recruitment, as well as plan Greek-wide events such as Greek Week, Greek’s participation in Splash, and many others. Additionally, these councils are responsible for the judicial aspect of Greek Life as well, each consisting of its own Judicial Board.

Finally, all the councils meet the first week of each month together to discuss Greek-wide issues. These meetings are considering Interfraternity and Sorority Council meetings (IFSC). With the recent addition of the MGC, the IFSC is slowly evolving to become a “Tri-Council” in the coming year.

Please feel free to visit each council’s section to meet the Executive Board!
