Explore Afghanistan’s centuries-old Jewish community from their religious and social lives to Muslim-Jewish relations. Spanning from the community’s origins, which many Afghan Jews believe to be from biblical times, to the development of their Jewish communal institutions, Sara Y. Aharon details the story of a small Jewish community that lived in relative peace with its Sunni Muslim neighbors. Book Signing To Follow Lecture. Sara Y. Aharon is the author of From Kabul to Queens: the Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States. She studied modern Jewish history at NYU and Brandeis University. In 2012 The Jewish Week named her to its “36 under 36” annual honorees list of young leaders impacting the Jewish community. =
