On the 7th of November, it will be the 100th year anniversary of Albert Camus. L'Association francophone de Boston University, with the support of the Department of Romance Studies, is currently organizing a series of events around the life and legacy of Albert Camus that will take place between the 12th and the 15th of November.
These events will include a film screening, a guided discussion of Camus' novellas led by French Lecturer Katherine Lakin-Schultz (BU), two panel discussions - one in French, with Dr. Odile Cazenave (BU), Ms. Aline Livni (BU) and Mr. Djamel Bekkai (BU), and the other in English, with Dr. Jeffrey Mehlman (BU), Dr. Jefferson Kline (BU) and Dr. George Kalogeris(Suffolk) - on a number of topics including the rivalry between Camus and Sartre and ""Camus, the Algerian"". The overarching theme of this "Semaine Albert Camus" is "Reading Camus in 2013". The idea is to question how, if at all, our reading of Camus has differed along the past few decades.
In addition, the Gottlieb Archives are preparing a case exhibit of some of Camus' manuscripts/correspondences. A digital exposition from the Institut Français will also be displayed.
This event is brought to you by the Department of Romance Studies, as part of International Education Week, a university-wide celebration of BU's global engagement.
