Global Programs Divisions
Nearly every School and College at Boston University engages in global activities. Last year alone, we were in over 80 countries and Antarctica. In addition to continuing its global operational oversight and program support responsibilities (previously provided as the Office of Global Operations), several key units are managed under Boston University Global Programs.
Study Abroad (formerly International Programs) has primary responsibility for creating opportunities for undergraduate study abroad around the world. Study Abroad offers an unmatched variety of academic and internship programs in more than 30 cities and 20 countries on six continents. Every year, students from Boston University and over 150 other colleges and universities enjoy the opportunity to study language, liberal arts, fine arts, science, business, engineering, or pursue an internship. Our job is to help students realize their dreams to study and intern abroad.
The Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP) provides international students with high quality intensive English language training and orientation programs to assist them in attaining linguistic proficiency in English and broadening their cultural awareness for success in their academic, professional, and personal lives. CELOP exemplifies Boston University’s long standing commitment to international education and to the promotion of global understanding and good will. CELOP faculty and staff also strive to serve as a model for the advancement of professional standards and quality instruction in intensive English programs at universities and colleges in the United States.
The International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO) endeavors to enhance the international character of Boston University by providing essential services and support to students, faculty, and staff. In an effort to ensure student, scholar and institutional compliance with federal regulations, ISSO provides professional expertise on immigration and employment issues. As advocates for international exchange, ISSO promotes the academic, professional and personal growth of this diverse community while cultivating an appreciation of its many contributions.
