Dr. William Chambers, B.A., M.A., Ph.D.


Dr. Chambers, BU Global Banking & Financial Services Academic Coordinator, has over twenty years of experience developing and overseeing credit models, internal credit scoring systems, and default risk assessment processes for Standard & Poor’s. He is an expert in international finance, portfolio management, and the economics of real estate development. Chambers teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in finance, credit analysis, and portfolio management.

Advanced Diploma: Semester Professional Internships

Students may apply for an Advanced Diploma, which includes an internship semester following the academic component. In doing so, students submit financial documentation for both semesters in their initial application and, if accepted into the program, are issued I-20s for the length of both academic semesters. These internships are typically unpaid. Banking & Financial Services students will have the opportunity to complete a four-month internship at one of Boston’s many banks, investment services corporations, or brokerage firms. Optional Practical Training

Students in the advanced track are also eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT). Through OPT, international students can remain in the U.S. and work for up to one year at a salary negotiated with the employer.

Minimum TOEFL Scores: 560 PP / 220 CBT / 84 iBT (iBT: Reading 21, Listening 18, Speaking 23, Writing 22)
Minimum IELTS Score: 6.5
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Two years of work experience recommended
Background in Financial Accounting
