Admissions: Graduate Diploma and Certificate Programs

To be considered for a BU Global Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program, students must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.

In addition, students must demonstrate:

  • That they are prepared for a rigorous, fast-paced curriculum
  • The ability to play a unique role in class discussion
  • Proficiency in English through a minimum score as outlined below on the Test of English as a Foreign Language
       - TOEFL (paper-based): 560
       - TOEFL IBT: Total Score of 84 - Reading 21, Listening 18, Speaking 23, and Writing 22
       - IELTS: 6.5
  • A clear career strategy and strong professional reasons for pursuing the Graduate Diploma
  • How the case study method of instruction will benefit their long-term career goals
  • Good writing skills

Application Checklist

A completed application consists of:

  1. A completed application form
  2. Complete official transcripts or notarized full-sized copies of all previous college, university, and
    graduate school study must be sent in a sealed and stamped envelope
  3. Payment of a non-refundable application fee of USD $70 must accompany the application
  4. Proof of English language proficiency. Original TOEFL score must be submitted to Boston
    University (BU Global’s TOEFL code is: 8675, Dept. code 99)
  5. Three admission essays
  6. Resume
  7. Two letters of recommendation
  8. International Student Data form
  9. Financial statement (International Students Only)
