Women’s Self-Help Groups in India: Empowerment, not Charity

Join us for a presentation from Mr. Sampath Kumar, CEO of Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana (RGMVP), about his organization’s approach to reducing the burden of poverty in Uttar Pradesh, India by creating and supporting women’s self-help groups. RGMVP seeks to build community, increase poor women’s access to capital, create sources of income, and support improved healthcare and education. RGMVP has scaled their grassroots approach throughout Uttar Pradesh; as of January 2014, RGMVP was supporting over 50,000 self-help groups and 1,200,780 women.
