Undergraduate Program

We offer natural science and social science concentrations in environmental science, environmental analysis and policy, human geography, and physical geography.  Students pursuing these concentrations take a common set of lower division foundational courses, followed by more advanced and specialized upper division courses focused on individualized areas of interest.   Interdisciplinary studies, real-world skills, and problem solving are emphasized throughout the curriculum.  Examples of specialized topics that students pursue include energy and environmental systems, environmental policy and resource analysis, transportation systems, remote sensing and geographic information systems, biogeography, hydrology, and climatology.

BU Geography & Environment Undergraduate ProgramsGraduates from our programs find employment in a diverse array of career opportunities including local, state, and federal agencies focused on environmental policy and science, and urban and regional planning.  Our graduates also find jobs in the private sector with firms that provide environmental and geotechnical consulting, industrial location and retail site planning, resource and environmental analysis, remote sensing and mapping, and energy policy analysis.  Many of our graduates pursue advanced studies in geography, environmental science and policy, land use and transportation planning, and environmental law and administration, among many other areas.
