Current Research

My research over the last ten years is multi-disciplinary and has dealt with spatial analysis, GIS and artifical neural networks. I have applied spatial analysis to address a variety of problems in biology, environmental science, public health and business. I have also worked on uncertainty issues related to GIS. I have used neural networks for pattern classification, estimation and mixture modeling. My current funded research includes examining spatial determinants of insectivorous bat diversity in Malaysia and multiscale models in remote sensing and GIS. I am affliated to the Cognitive and Neural Systems (CNS) Technology Laboratory at Boston University. I also do outreach focussed on using spatial thinking and technologies for K-12 education.
