Graduate Degree Programs
The Department offers both Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Both degree programs combine rigorous coursework, theory, and application. Quantitative methods are emphasized throughout the program, which provide students with excellent skill sets for their future careers. Both degree programs require theses; however, the MA program does allow for a research paper and exam in lieu of the thesis. Faculty in the department all have active research programs supported by extramural funding, which provides the foundation for most thesis research.
The department, through its close affiliation with the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies, also offers three non-thesis M.A. programs:
- Energy and Environmental Analysis
- International Relations and Environmental Policy
- Environmental Remote Sensing and GIS
