Audio Library

MFLL instructors can download the audio files for language courses for transferring to an audio device, such as an iPod. Geddes has iPod boomboxes for use in class. These instructions assume you know how to import music into your music player.

These materials for in class use by instructors only and cannot be made available to students. Student must use the streaming audio files posted in the lab audio section of the Geddes Language Center website.

If you already have a CAS fileserver account, then you can skip to Step 3.

Step 1: Link Your Account

You must be a member of the AD CAS group. If you are not you must complete this form to link your kerberos password to CAS resources:

http://www.bu.edu/computing/accounts/ad/cas

The screen listed above states that it will take 24 hours for your account to be linked. In most cases, this happens within five minutes, not 24 hours.

Step 2: Sign Up for a CASFS1 account.

Sign up for a CASFS1 account with the CAS Computing Services Group by completing this form:

http://cashelp.bu.edu/fileserver/accountrequest.html

Alternatively, visit Room CAS331 (CAS Computing Services Group) and sign up at the front desk.

This will not only give you access to the audio materials, but will give you storage space on the CAS fileserver for storing/transferring documents. This usually takes 24-48 hours.

Step 3: Login to the CAS fileserver

Log in to CASFS1.

On the Mac, Choose the GO menu, then CONNECT TO SERVER. In the box type 'casfs1.bu.edu' without the quotes. Enter your username and kerberos password. Choose "Modern Foreign Languages" from the share list.

On the PC, click START, then RUN. In the run box type '\\casfs1.bu.edu'. Enter your username in the form "ad\username" and your kerberos password. Find "Modern Foreign Languages" in the Department list and double-click.

Step 4: Get The Files

Double click "Departmental Workgroups", then "Audio Materials". Find the correct tapeset and import them into your music program.
