Well-known Brazilian economist Paulo Nogueira Batista, Jr. gave a talk at BU titled: “The IMF, Capital Controls, and Developing Countries.” Batista has been the Executive Director representing Brazil and a group of eight countries in the region at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) since April 2007.

Boston University will convene an all-day conference titled “Development That Works” on Thursday, March 31, 2011 which will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to discuss development ideas that have been demonstrated to be or have the potential to lead to sustainable and effective development.
The conference will be held at the 4th floor conference space at the BU School of Management (Hariri Building, 595 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston University).
The conference is free and open to public, but RSVP is required. RSVP to the conference at pardee@bu.edu.
