			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well-known  Brazilian economist Paulo Nogueira Batista, Jr. gave a talk  at BU titled: “The IMF, Capital Controls, and Developing Countries.”   Batista has  been the Executive Director representing Brazil and a group  of  eight  countries in the region at the International Monetary Fund  (IMF)  since  April 2007.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Boston University will convene an all-day conference titled<em> “<a href="http://www.bu.edu/pardee/research/development-that-works/" target="_blank">Development  That Works</a>”</em> on <strong>Thursday, March 31, 2011 </strong>which  will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to discuss  development ideas that have been demonstrated to be or have the  potential to lead to sustainable and effective development.</p>
<p>The conference will be held at the 4th floor conference space at the BU  School of Management (Hariri Building, 595 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston  University).</p>
