Millet and Rural France with Jonathan Ribner

Description

Join Boston University Associate Professor in the Department of History of Art and Architecture, Jonathan Ribner, in this 3-part exploration of nineteenth century French artist, Jean-François Millet. In the spirit of the current exhibition, “Millet and Rural France,” held at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts (attendees may wish to see this show prior to the lectures), we will investigate the life and work of this exceptional painter. Millet was especially proficient at depicting the beauty of the natural world through rustic scenes featuring quaint farmhouses, wildflowers, and people at work and play.
